Experience
Mr. Lupica started with Ohio
Bell in 1966 and moved up through the
organization in both line and staff functions,
including a tour of duty with A.T.&T/Bell Labs.
During his career, he has worked in most of the
major departments including engineering,
marketing, sales support, training and customer
service. In 1993, after an extensive career, he
opted for early retirement from Ameritech. He is
currently a principal of the consulting firm
Lupica & Associates, Inc.
Mr. Lupica is a seasoned
professional with over 35 years of experience in
the fields of telecommunications and Information
Systems. He is uniquely qualified, having
experience with both hardware and software
relative to data communications systems and
networks, computing systems and networks and
voice communications systems and networks. This
experience includes both user and provider
perspectives.
In the area of networking,
Mr. Lupica has a strong working knowledge of
network‑based applications, including video,
image, multi‑media, data and voice, a strong
working knowledge of contemporary technologies,
architecture, standards, and protocols such as
ISDN, TCP/IP, Frame Relay, ATM, Ethernet, FDDI,
SONET, T‑1, T‑3, wireless, etc; and a strong
working knowledge of various security issues and
architectures. He is also familiar with the
associated hardware and systems software
offerings of the major vendors. He has used
various network design and engineering
techniques Network/systems management and
monitoring and their supporting systems are his
forte.
Mr. Lupica is familiar with
the hardware and associated systems software
products of the major vendors, including IBM,
Data General, Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems
and various Intel platforms. He is familiar with
the various implementations of UNIX, such as
Ultrix, AIX, SUNOS, SUN, Solaris, SCO, etc. He
is also familiar with SQL and a variety of
database managers, such as Informix, Oracle,
Ingress, IMS, etc.
He was chief of architecture,
design and development for Ameritech's family of
products aimed at Information Resource
Management, was heavily involved in strategy,
market and marketing issues, as well as the
expected technical matters of development and
testing. Elements of object‑oriented design and
analysis were employed, in addition to a more
traditional structured analysis and design. The
environment included the use of CASE tools and
disciplined source code control.
He also has extensive
experience in voice systems with a specific
knowledge of major vendors such as AT&T,
Northern Telecom, Siemens and NEC America.
